The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) has announced its list of newly elected Fellows for 2026, and among the distinguished honorees is Professor Zhang Haitao, Vice Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Professor Zhang was recognized for his "pioneering and significant contributions to the theoretical technology and industrial applications of cooperative control for marine autonomous intelligent unmanned surface vehicle clusters."

Each year, fewer than 0.1% of the total IEEE voting membership are elevated to the rank of Fellow, following a rigorous evaluation by a committee of peers. The honor is widely regarded as a significant career achievement and a mark of excellence in the global academic and scientific community, acknowledging individuals who have made important contributions to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology.
